Augusta Victoria Zamora, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Brownsville, Texas, surrounded by her children, sister, and loved ones.
Augusta was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México on July 28, 1935. As the eldest daughter, Augusta helped raise her younger brothers and sisters, working at a young age to support her family.
After marrying the love of her life, Miguel Zamora Cuevas, on October 20, 1957, Augusta set off for an adventure of a lifetime, leaving her homeland of México for Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, Augusta and Miguel welcomed two sons (Juan Miguel and Francisco Javier) and two daughters (Maria Theresa and Alma Cecilia). After a tragic loss, Augusta displayed extraordinary strength, moving her family across the country to Brownsville, Texas and raising her sons and daughters as a single mother. Augusta guided her children down a path of virtue through her faith, courage, dedication to her family, and material love.
Augusta cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for always checking in on them, worrying about their well-being, and showering them with love and blessings whenever she could. She has been a pillar of strength and a source of pride for her family. Augusta will be dearly missed by the entire family, but they find solace in knowing that she will be reunited with her loving husband and other loved ones who have also passed.
